Congratulations Joe and Louise Woolford on 75 years together

Joseph S. Woolford and Louise Lewis married Aug. 31, 1940, 75 loving years ago. Joe was born and raised in Show Low, and Louise was born and raised in Taylor. Both attended and graduated from Snowflake Union High School where they met.

Woolfords celebrate 75 years together

Joseph and Louise Woolford celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary Aug. 31. Their love and dedication to each other has been a great example to their family and their children would like to wish them a “Very Happy Day." Joe and Louise were married in 1940 and are the parents to six children; Lynn, Farrel, Evelyn, Lewis, Joleen and Leslie. They also have 18 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. During their 75 years together, they have mainly lived in Arizona, and have also lived in Colorado, Utah, and Idaho but are proud to call Show Low their home. "We love you Mom and Dad… Happy Anniversary!"

Lyndsay Staley earns BYU degree

Lyndsay Staley not only excelled academically at Brigham Young University but was published in BYU College of Life Sciences magazine and is now heading to graduate school to achieve a PhD, or doctorate of philosophy.

Kozakiewicz-Vershum wed

The Lord/Vershum family of Show Low is growing. Heather Vershum and Johnathon Kozakiewicz met at the VFW 9907 where their love story started and blossomed into a beautiful wedding ceremony July 3 at Fool Hollow Lake. He has hopes of serving in the military and both aspire to work in the medical world, helping to save lives.

Valle-Munoz to marry

Kristin Nicole Valle and Alexis “Alex” Munoz, both of Pinetop, will exchange vows at 5 p.m. Aug. 31 in Show Low. The bride-to-be is the daughter of Alfredo and Tracy Valle of Pinetop and the groom-to-be is stationed in Gulfport, Miss., for the U.S. Air Force. He is the son of Gonzalo and Emilia Munoz of Yuma.

Castillo-Segovia to marry

Eligio and Annabelle Castillo announce the upcoming marriage of their daughter, Analese Castillo, to Gustavo Segovia, grandson of Maria de Jesus Bañuelos. The ceremony will take place Saturday, June 27, at the St. John the Baptist Church in St. Johns. The couple will continue to reside in St. Johns.

The Show Low Senior Center, 301 E. McNeil. offers lunch Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Menu is subject to change due to availability of food items. Cost is $7 and includes beverage, salad, entrée and dessert.

The Pinetop-Lakeside Senior Center, 1594 Johnson Lane in Lakeside, offers excellent dining, social activities and exercise programs. The center is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Join the center in June for old time activities like horseshoes and great food. Thrift store hours are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Show Low Public Library is offering a class on digital photo editing from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday, June 15. This is a great opportunity to learn more about how to enjoy your digital camera and digital photography. The class is free but registration is required.

On June 7, we observe National Cancer Survivors Day in the United States. In support of this day, Social Security encourages checkups, early detection and awareness, while honoring the survivors who have gone through this battle and defeated the disease.
