Wow, this interesting. First we have brutal murders take place, deaths of very respectable individuals and now we have drug busts. Sounds like we're only destructing ourselves. I respect all thoughts/feelings of this particular situation but if you're not making honest money you can't expect to get away with it every time. I have no respect for their actions because we make our own choices! Poverty or unemployment is not an excuse. "I" come from that and I refuse to let that be any type of excuse for me. I just hope and pray the children of these individuals will break the cycle and realize that they can make their own decisions regardless of their background!

This show the WMAT is not above the Laws of the Nations!! The federal government (FBI) and the state of Arizona (DPS) is demonstrating their juristdictional auhtority. If the tribe had an effective Judicail System and Law Enforcement their would have been no need for this show of force by the FBI & DPS. I welcome the FBI & DPS!!

Music to my ears! Job well done to the law enforcements listed and everyone else who took part in it. These individuals are endangering our children and our communities. I'm glad they are in custody and hope they will not be released under any circumstances. They need to be kept locked up with no bond. Only a handful are in custody and there is still more to capture. I will continue to pray so that ALL of them be arrested. Our people are hurting and have been for too long. They are destroying lives, homes, relationships, families, and souls by the minute. This needs to stop and it's about time the authorities have taken action. I applaud them all and may we all continue to heal and progess into a positive future.

They ought to put these perps names out for the public to see! They need to be known so we can know who is hurting our communities and they can take full responsibility for their actions! Thank you to all the efforts of the different law enforcement agencies!! Maybe we will sleep a little better knowing some of these lawbreakers are getting their just desserts. Thanks again!

When it is all said and done...the REAL POWERS will come in and take care of business that NEEDED and CONTINOUSLY NEEDS TO BE DONE and TAKEN CARE OF.

Everyone of you on council and in the executive branch, Timmy Hinton, vice-chair, and Ronnie Lupe, chairman...you knew of these challenges and issue for a long, long time.

I for one, am sick and tired of the endless senseless death, violence, corruption in all levels and A HUGE THANK YOU to DPT and FBI for coming down to Whiteriver and cleaning up this toxic mess.

The cancer that grows in our community needs to be addressed, discussed and REAL SOLUTIONS NEED TO BE ENACTED. That means real action needs to be put in place to address the cancer growing on my beloved homeland.

FYI. The names are available to the public if they are over 18 years of age. I caution everyon that just because you are arrested, that does not mean you are guilty. They have a right to their day in court. However, with the way things are going in Whiteriver, I am glad these cases will be handled in Federal court where YOU CANNOT IGNORE or JUST DECIDE YOU DON'T WANT TO LISTEN TO THE JUDGE.

    Ashong!

That "DPT" was suppose to read "DPS (Dept. of Public Safety)".

P/S: Thank you. Dear WMI, please print the names of the alleged perpetrators and those accused. You print the names of child molesters and those charged with DUI, and other charges, so I am asking you to enact fair and balanced Journalism. Thank you again....

    "hsb187"
1st i would like to say that I haven't done drugs in a long time, but yes I drink alcohol I buy from the store not "bootleggers"
2nd I remember when their use to be a helicopter that would fly from McNary to Canyon Day dropping off shipments to different people, that was when Massey was Chairman, so don't put the blame on Chairman Ronnie Lupe.
3rd I know most of the people on this list some of them I've know since I was a kid others I met when i "used" to do drugs, they were doing the same thing when Massey was Chairman, so again don't put the blame on Chairman Ronnie Lupe.
4th I hope they do go after the "bootleggers" next, since some of them put rubbing alcohol into the bottle after they take out the real alcohol, which is the reason why we lost some many young people the past few years.
5th I know most of these people I consider friends, but what they were doing was hurting the tribe and the people on this reservation so I'm glad they were arrested, but their are still alot more out there.
6th I am not a snitch, so don't expect me to name names.

The media has reported lately that Ronnie Lupe is the longest serving Chairman in the history of the White Mountain Apache Tribe.

Therefore, I'd say since he was the captain of this sinking boat (tribe) then partial blame is on him. There are plenty of partners to blame on this. I think our entire police force could be revamped and certain police officials need to be fired. I also think the court system needs to be organized. May I ask why we have a judge who is not qualified under the precious WMAT Tribal Constitution and Tribal codes issuing court orders we all suddenly decide to follow? Also, I think an INDEPENDENT audit of every single department, office, division, and enterprises needs to commence. Also, I would like to suggest that WMAT Council and Chair and Vice make some serious changes to what YOU KNOW IS SO WRONG with drugs and alcohol on our reservation. Sadly, the greatest funding source for our people is NOT GAMING. It is our bar service station where we sell this legal drug to our people and they are adding further ailments to our land and this, in turn is ruining the tribe as a whole. Prayers to all those who felt they needed to sell drugs and my prayers to their families. Not everyone was a bad parent.

I very glad he didnt make back into the tribal council seat. [smile]

Dear "wannaknow": Do you know what the term white privilege means? It means--simply--that since you are white, you are better in terms of inteligence or anything pertaining to measurement of ability in a variety of areas. Be it sociology, finance, education, economics, socio-economics, politically, culturally, and so on.

I am shocked and dismayed at your ignorance to think the "almighty" white people that were brought into work with the WMAT were the "saviors" of the tribes' finances and best practices pertaining to governance operations.

I argue that people with good education, wisdom, discipline, knowledge, patience, dignity, astuteness, skills, and humility is what made this tribe great. NOT WHITE PEOPLE and NOT APACHE PEOPLE.

What made our tribe great is the skills and busines savvy of many WHITE PEOPLE AND MANY APACHE PEOPLE. Past tribal leaders like, YES--RONNIE LUPE-and the late Mr. Banashley, Reno Johnson, Dallas Massey, and other councilmembers....all collectively they made this tribe great.

Are we perfect and need to resort to White people and their magic alixir of perfection that seems to appear when they are hired by tribal entities? NOPE!

We can rely upon ourselves and our tribal members. Mr. Lupe--THE CHAIRMAN HAS SERVED THE LONGEST OF ANY ELECTED TRIBAL MEMBER alive and deceased. He has the experience and information on how to get things done...so let me ask you this:

HOW COME THERE HAS BEEN NO CHANGE? If Mr. Massey did as you claim, then it should be easily fixed. How come Mr. Lupe as not resorted to his knowledge to get things fixed as you suggest?

Do not blame the council. The people elected the council so you all, and me shoulder the blame of the conditions of what is happening right now on our reservation.

Again, if you think you can do better than the current administration, please secure your petition signatures and campaign and make sure you follow the election policies and then run and see if enough people support your kind of leadership. Until then, stay on the porch with the yapping pups.

Also, when you say say "white people" in the term of adoration, remember one final thought today: Never before has the WMAT people accumulated the highest number of college graduates and technology skilled people who are ready to work, have the training, the degrees, and the talent to MAKE THINGS BETTER. Never under estimate the power of education within our tribe. Change is occuring and it is not at the legislative (WMAT Council) level. Make my words
