From other pens Has Homeland Security become America’s standing army?

Posted: Tuesday, June 24, 2014 5:00 am

If the United States is a police state, then the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is its national police force, with all the brutality, ineptitude and corruption such a role implies. In fact, although the DHS’ governmental bureaucracy may at times appear to be inept and bungling, it is ruthlessly efficient when it comes to building what the founders feared most — a standing army on American soil.

    DHS is the post-9/11, domestic surveillance state envisioned by PNAC in the 90's. [sad]

    The Dhs should be dismantled. I am greatly concerned about Arizona' s version of the Taliban, the center for az policy. The cap is the greatest threat to our personal and religious freedoms. Cathy sherrod is the mullah Omar of az.

    DHS was created when the country had a republican controlled House of Reps, a republican controlled Senate and a republican controlled President. It was their Rosemary's baby.

    People who claim that the United States is a dictatorship or a police state have never lived in one.

    Not of course that if you were on a website in any of those places you'd see anything about it, because anyone who was fool enough to call the government 'a police state' is either in jail, or a re-education camp, or dead.

    Emotional Basher aka Durable Brad,

    We reject your recent critcism of Arizna Al. I disagree with him 80% of the time, but when he believes he has a point in which he believes, he is almost always a gentleman about making that point.

    That theme is one you should take into consideration in your own comments.

    I nominate Wes to become the new Couth Control Officer or the U.S. House of Representatives.

    @Wes Alderson,

    Your ignominious history of preaching factually-challenged inaccuracies, appears to have somehow created a need to insert your nose into other people's business.[offtopic]

    Brad,

    Many of us have tried to tell Wes, that his opprobrious conduct is unbecoming a pastor and that his sticking his proboscis in other people's business will only devalue his posts. Hopefully, he will change his actions.

    I believe the subject is the depredations of the DHS. I have consistently called for substantial funding cuts in our security apparatus and further suggest that the huge computer resources of the NSA be transferred to the DVA and the IRS to replace the aging and inefficient systems they now are burdened with.
