Quoting Romney,“Mr. President, all of the increase in natural gas and oil has happened on private land, not on government land. On government land, your administration has cut the number of permits and licenses in half.”

    The reality:

Oil production from federal lands is higher, not lower: Production from federal lands is up slightly in 2011 when compared to 2007. And the oil and gas industry is sitting on 7,000 approved permits to drill, that it hasn’t begun exploring or developing.

You think becoming 'energy independent' is going to bring down prices at the pump? We were told that by exploiting our natural gas our domestic price for natural gas would drop, obviously that hasn't happened. Their excuse for high prices here at home is because it's a global market. Our energy prices will continue to rise pipeline or not. So, the only upside to this pipeline will be some temporary jobs for Americans.

Boomer and Al, sorry, but it IS a global market, dang it!

It was established in early 2001 that the Oil Cartel in the Middle East, used production limits and shipment truncations to the United States, as a way of threatening the US Government to do things the way "Islam wants" or suffer from higher oil prices.

Today, amidst the clammor about the recent assasintations of our ambassadors by the Muslim Brotherhood, I paid $5.89 per gallon for self serve regular in the LA area while traveling to a medical facility.

I hate to say it, but it looks like Obama has yielded to the desires of the Middle East Nations, and we are doomed to not onlly suffer outragious loss of life, but also gas at $7.00 per gallon, just like the erstwhile March Ridenaour predicted.

(I hate it when he is right.)

Wes, see what happens when you drive more than walk?
Now you're in a fix where they got you needing to drive for treatment.
It was the oil companies and car companies who conspired years ago to get you.
    They set you up. [ohmy]

Well, I am once again enduring the slings and arrows of life in LA for more medical treatment. YesterdaFriday) I filled my gas tank on the way to the Cardiologists' office. I paid 5.89 per gallon. Gads !!!!!

Some gas stations are out of gas because of the burning out of a couple of nearby refineries. There are more factors involved in the price of gas (or any commodity) that the raw out of the ground cost. Just like Al and Boomer agreed - a Global Market.

With all that being said, though, while we have to pay sky high prices for gas, it would be nice to think that the ultimate cost was going to American Companies, creating American jobs - not jobs in Iran.

PS - I wonder why my blood pressure was so high when I arrived at the doctor's office?

TN, Haw! Problem is I am 60% paralyzed and have to drive. Shoot - I can barely make it from the apartment to the car.

And Al, that's a cardiology clinic for the chronic congestive heart failure, although I do get a laugh out of you kidding me about agreeing with Marc.

Reality is, when I see truth, I agee with it, no matter whether you say it, Marc says it, K says it, especially when Ron and TN say it . . . . or even Jeff Krenze or BillyD.

Wes, Is California in the global market now. They are paying more than any other State.Oil Executives stated that the reason was the fires and low supply.Nation wide supply has been reduced to insure that demand was higher. Now, that is supply not surplus, that is at an all time high.
Now Wes, don't come with your educational and experience back-ground excuses for the facts. You may be the Jack-Of- All Trades, with degrees in every College Classes there are, but this is 1+1=2.

Think about this: The raising and lowering of gasoline prices is the function of the oil industry not the state of California the blame should be directed at the oil industry.

AAhhumm!! California is a traditionally, Democratic state and President Obama wants to take away the enormous profit making Oil industry's government welfare subsidies. So what better way for the oil industry to try to make Obama look bad, than to punish the California people with a giagantic gasoline price increase.

Unfortunately, outsiders like Wes, that have to travel to California for medical or other reasons also get shafted.

Al, if you have been out lately, you would see that we are just behind Cal. Oh: but Az is a Republican state. Why are we being punished too----PROFIT!

Gee, Al and Julius, sorry to have mispelled Marc's name as March, but you know about my blindness and tuypos.

Julius, it doesn'[t matter how much of a supply of oil we have, if the area served can't refine it, then we dont have enough gas and the price goes WAAAAAY up.

Don't get me wrong - I hate paying this much for gas. But if the El Segundo refinery went off line becuase of the electrical outage, that is nobody's fault. It falls under to motto of Sh*t happens. I hate it.

Wes, I was not refering to the supply entering the refinery, the finished product that is allowed to exit the refinery is what I refer to. Why do refineries have to reduce production, lack of storage space! I know that there will be someone that puts the cost blame on tax, in a report on states with the lowest cost of fuel, the tax on top was lower than$.50 the lowest was just over $.10 this is per gallon!Oil Industry has the Country in their grasp, the wallets in their hands and the Economy is in their Dividen Checks.
I, Personnaly, am not comfortable voting for either of the money hungry, war mongering, power grabbing or B.S. slinging Puppets that we hear of each day,all day.

Gee, Julius, there's a bunch of gas stations closed because they're sold out here in LA. Seems to me they can't make any money that way. Your thoughts?

I will say this for Democratic Governor Jerry Brown - he just signed an emergency authorization to switch over to the more plentiful Winter Gas mix, despite pollution.

We won't be able to breathe, but at least gas may get a little cheaper. Wheeeeze.
