Wow, am I loving this beautiful weather up here on the mountain. As we continue to build our off the grid homestead, my husband and I reflect that if we were in poor health and shape we would not be able to pursue and experience our dream of self-sustained living.
Building our self-sustained food garden, squatting down plants vegetables and seeds, long hours digging with the shovel, reaching over and pulling weeds, that takes strength. Building fences for our farm animals and putting up netting, raking and gathering, cutting and splitting our fire wood, loading and unloading feed for our animals, all of this requires physical work and endurance. Getting fit and healthy is not about achieving the perfect shape, it’s so much deeper than that. Taking back your health allows you to experience the things that you love.
How terrible it would be not to enjoy and experience your passions due to failing health. Right there is a strong reason to take back your health. Many people go through their life feeling terrible, lethargic, suffering from aches and pains, having low levels of energy, some diseases and illnesses, unable to enjoy their passions, have no energy to enjoy their families and friends. Did you know that a lot of this is caused by their lifestyle? Poor food choices, not getting adequate exercise, hydration and sleep are enormous causes of many ailments we cause on ourselves. But here’s great news, it’s never too late to change, never too late to start.
There’s rivers to kayak and trails to hike, places to bike and mountain to climbs, lakes to swim and horses to ride, gardens to be built and life to be fulfilled!
Next time you find yourself having difficulties changing your lifestyle to a healthy one, focus on all the things you will be able to experience if you were fit and healthy. You only have one life, don’t waste it in such poor health that you are unable to do the things you love. When you take back your health, you take back your life.
