WM Yoga Festival set for June 21-22

PINETOP-LAKESIDE — The first ever “White Mountains Yoga Festival” celebrating Summer Solstice and the United Nations’ “International Day of Yoga” will be held June 21-22. All are welcome.

Open Spaces Yoga Center (OSYC) and Yoga Caliente at the Gym (YC) have partnered with In Bloom Nursery to produce this two-day public event that is abundant with joyful learning and provides access to a wide variety of traditional and contemporary yoga styles. In Bloom’s spacious events grounds serve as the anchor site for this dynamic festival.

White Mountain visitors, residents and yoga enthusiasts are all invited to enjoy the uplifting experiences of this centuries-old science and art form that encourages health, vitality, flexibility and wisdom.

• Friday, June 21: On-site registration begins at In Bloom at 1 p.m. and continues through Saturday. The festival gets underway at 3 p.m. with an array of fun yoga activities, vendor shopping and a casual meet-and-greet. A Reggae Flow Yoga class and a traditional Kirtan with call-and-response chanting will follow. At 7 p.m., in honor of Summer Solstice, festival goers will join in a celebratory 108 Sun Salutations while exploring multiple yoga styles. Music and dancing close out the day with the local Reggae band “Planting Seedz” from 8-10 p.m.

• Saturday, June 22: From 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. the three festival locations (OSYC, YC and In Bloom) will hold simultaneous classes in yoga practices, chanting sessions and wellness talks, each class is about 1.5 hours in length. A total of 14 diverse classes are offered throughout this second day. The festival concludes with an evening of soothing and meditative Trance-Dance at In Bloom starting at 7 p.m.
