Detective Cory Fechtelkotter of the Show Low Police Department, talks about his career as a cop as the Independent rode along with him as the big snowstorm approached on Feb. 21. The trip was fairly uneventful as the snow had just begun to stick to the ground, but the officer had to respond to a broken-down vehicle that was parked on a street and needed to be moved so plow trucks could clear the street. He called a DPS trooper vehicle with four-wheel drive to push the disabled car into a driveway. Fechtelkotter said he was actually glad at that point, that he hadn't been called to any accidents yet, as it's one of the least enjoyable parts of the job. "The paperwork is very involved, people get hurt and it's dangerous being out on the roadway in weather like this."
