Coues' Whitetail deer could break archery record

On Aug. 24, White Mountain resident Dave Englet harvested a Coues’ whitetail (typical), filling his archery tag in Arizona Hunt Unit 27. The unofficial score for this animal is 101 and 5/8, according to Englet who plans to have the animal’s antlers measured by the Pope and Young Club. The club is recognized as the official repository for records on bow-harvested North American big game animals.
