CONCHO — 14th annual Concho Memorial Day Parade “A Time to Remember.” Parade starts at 10 a.m. After the parade American Legion Post 130 will host its flag ceremony, followed by the Lions Club picnic with food, fun, music, beer garden and vendors. Veterans receive free meals.
LAKESIDE: VFW 2364 hosting Memorial Day programs starting at 11 a.m. at the Veteran’s Memorial, across from the Lakeside Post Office, and at 1 p.m. at Haven of Lakeside, then at 1:45 p.m. at Solterra Senior Living. For more information, call 928-368-6166.
SHOW LOW — White Mountain Honor Guard conducting Memorial Day celebration at 10 a.m. at Show Low Cemetery. This special ceremony will honor all those who died serving our country in the US military. Many thanks is owed to members of VFW 9907, American Legion Post 76 and especially to Owens-Livingston Mortuary for their assistance with set up and take down of the facility located near the flagpole inside the cemetery at 300 E Adams. Keynote speaker is Gerald Hunsicker, Colonel, US Army, retired. Hunsicker is recipient of many military awards and promotions during his 20-year career; Among these are Korea Service, Vietnam Service and Purple Heart. Dr. Hunsicker (PhD) is a professional educator and is involved in his community, having served on the Concho Community Planning Committee, and teaching at Northland Pioneer College. Other speakers include members of VFW Post 9907: Jon Dahl, Commander; Connie Zawacki, Auxiliary President; and Jim Zawacki, Chaplain. This event will happen rain or shine.
PINETOP — Hon-Dah Resort offers American Veterans and members of the U.S. Armed Forces a free breakfast or lunch buffet from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a veteran plus one guest. Must show military ID or DD214.
