Twins in red wagon at Show Low Days 2018

Show Low Days has a new date and location this year, and new family entertainment with the Circus Americana and other attractions along with Derby Down the Deuce.

SHOW LOW — One of the most anticipated summer events — Show Low Days — kicks off on a new weekend this Friday.

Along with a new date for the event, there are a couple of changes this year and a couple of additions to the attractions.

This year the event will be held at Frontier Field behind the Navajo County Government complex on Ninth Place instead of Show Low City Park. Food vendors, arts and crafts booths and other vendors will also be at this year’s Show Low Days.

Among the new entertainment attractions is midget wrestling under the name of “Lucha Libre.” It will be held Friday, June 7 at 5 p.m. at Arizona CDJR dealership, 260 W. Deuce of Clubs and Saturday, June 8 at 5 pm. at Frontier Field.

A second new show is Circus Americana, bringing to town with a special aquatic treat.

The mermaids will be at Circus Americana, a the creation from one of North America’s last circus families, The Taylor Family Circus. “Featuring an All-Human team of spectacular performers, Circus Americana is a new type of circus that integrates circus skills, theatrical techniques, classical dance and storytelling to create spectacular Big Top immersion production that will leave the audiences spellbound,” boasts Circus Americana on their Facebook page.

The circus will be on Friday from 1-10 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m.-10 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., with shows every 45 minutes.

As for the Derby Down the Deuce, one of the biggest attractions of Show Low Days, it will once again be filled with both whimsical and more serious soap box-style racers that cruise down the Deuce of Clubs starting at McNeil Road.

Races begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday.

One of the derby organizers, Mike Bosley, said entrants will compete for two $1,000 prizes in the speed and design categories.

“Also, if people come to the Burger Burn (Friday June 7 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Arizona CDJR) they can vote for The King of the Deuce (best of show derby car),” Bosley said.
