ROOSEVELT — Residents may see smoke on the horizon. Tonto National Forest fire officials are planning three pile burns for Monday.
The three slash pile burns are located at Indian Point Community Green Waste site, Burnt Corral Campground and Crabtree Wash Pit near the Apache Lake Marina. The burns will range in size from one acre to a quarter of an acre.
Officials expect moderate smoke from the burns, which should disperse by the late afternoon. Motorists on State Route 88 and 188 and the Tonto Basin community and the Apache Lake Marina Resort may be affected by the smoke.
Affected communities should remain aware of smoke advisories and conditions. Learn more about smoke impacts on the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality website.
