Spencer Peterson, 31, a homeless Show Low resident, was arrested July 3 after he allegedly threatened a man with a machete. He was also arrested on a warrant and booked into the Navajo County Jail Show Low Annex.

SHOW LOW — Police arrested Spencer Peterson, 31, a homeless Show Low resident, in the 330 west block of the Deuce of Clubs on July 3 at around 5 a.m.and charged him with disorderly conduct with a weapon and on a warrant for failure to appear.

Police said Peterson was asked by a person at a local business not to smoke drugs in their bathroom when, according to the police report, he became agitated and argumentative. Police said he began behaving erratically while wielding a machete and yelling obscenities. Police said he damaged a window with the blade of the machete while swinging it around uncontrollably. The person who spoke to him was afraid for his safety and called 911.

Police said Peterson fled before they arrived, adding that officers found him a block away, identified him from the description given by the victim, and questioned him.

Police said he admitted involvement adding that they found a machete behind the business where the incident occurred that they believe was the one Peterson used.

The warrant he was arrested on was out of the Show Low Justice Court for failure to appear on an original charge of disorderly conduct-criminal damage that came with a $750 bond.
