Eva Van Horn

Eva Lorraine Van Horn peacefully entered eternal rest June 17, 2019, at the Haven of Lakeside in Lakeside. She was born Feb. 19, 1933, to Yalmar Juntunen and Hilda (Hogan) Juntunen in Eben Junction, Michigan.

She enjoyed a life-long career as a waitress. She began in the Chicago area; moving to Show Low, in 1985 to be near her daughter, Shelly and her two grandsons. She loved people and always had two jobs. She worked at the Christmas Tree Restaurant, Charlie Clark’s (in the evenings) and at the Show Low Denny’s (in the mornings). Many “flatlanders” did double-takes at breakfast saying, “Didn’t we just see you last night?” She had many friends and will be sorely missed.

Eva is survived by her sister, Nancy Ranta; son Mike (Linda) Trelford; son-in-law Joseph Hessinger; two grandchildren: Joey (Katrina) Hessinger and Jack Trelford and two great grandchildren, Aubree and Matthew Hessinger.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Van Horn; son Thomas Trelford; daughter Michelle Hessinger and grandson Matthew Hessinger.

Services will be held at a later date in Chatham, Michigan, where she will be buried in the Juntunen family plot.

Silver Creek Mortuary of Pinetop handled arrangements. To share condolences with Eva’s family, visit www.silvercreekmortuary.net.
