Marvin Harris Wilson Jr., 105, of Show Low died June 1, 2019. She was born Jan. 17, 1914 in Jackson Tennessee to his loving parents, the late Marvin and Kate (Hall) Wilson.
Marvin’s parents (bi-vocational Baptist ministers) raised him to love and to serve the Lord. Not only did Marvin learn the disciplines of church ministry as a child, he also dutifully worked in the grocery business with his father, daily after school. Marvin graduated valedictorian of his high school class.
After high school Marvin worked in radio, and entertainment. In 1944 Marvin enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and proudly served his country until 1946. Marvin lived in Anaheim, California, until he retired (Butcher) to Greenfield, Missouri, where he spent many days catching his limit fishing.
Marvin was quite the crooner, he absolutely loved to sing, tap dance and entertain. He sang his whole life in churches, hospital wards, quartets, or where ever his rich baritone voice could be heard. The old fashioned gentleman was simply loved by all.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, four loving children: Marvin H. Wilson III (Mikey), Ann Trepanier, Karen Frailing, Karla McKee; grandchildren: Desiree, Candice; great-grandchildren, Tanner, Brook, Faith, Katie, Bella and great-great-grandchild Jude.
Memorial services and a celebration of Marvin’s life will be held Friday, June 21, at the Community Presbyterian Church, 1940 Penrod Road in Pinetop. The glorious event will commence at 1 p.m.
