Deja vu all over again

Alabama’s passage of a virtual ban on abortions calls to mind the exquisite tensions which incubated the American Civil War during the 1830’s-1860’s. We see, for example, many of the same states which committed that treason, engaged in a similar expedition against a compelling majority of Americans now. Just as black Americans were held in legal bondage as property (livestock) prior to the passage of the 13th Amendment, so female Americans have been held in de-facto bondage as property (livestock) with few distinctions between them.

A brief glance at history shows us that in pre-colonial England, the historical inequalities of income and wealth led to a huge population of poor persons who were deemed, as would continue here, to be human waste. Over time, there was less and less room for this waste and tensions increased leading to their abysmal treatment by their own countrymen. Then, voila! The American colonies opened up providing a massive dumping grounds for England’s human waste. The aristocracy merely acquired vast tracts of land and then transported their human waste to America where they could be exploited as de facto-slaves to work the new lands for the profit of their continued masters.

Among these white slaves, women were valued as especially desirable property because they could be bred to produce more labour. Even the wives of the prosperous men were so valued because children were valuable from an economic point of view. While the Thirteenth Amendment passed by a hair’s breadth, the Equal Rights Amendment never did; thus, American women have always been subjected to the indignities and humiliation of their de-facto ownership by men. Among enlightened polities, women have achieved considerable dignity and rights of citizenship; however, among the more degenerate of jurisdictions, little such progress has been made.

Roe was the analogous event to the Compromise of 1850 which provided only temporary relief of the exquisite stress of slave and non-slave cabals but which failed to prevent the catastrophic conflict. Abortion is the defining issue of our time and now metastasizes as the state of slavery did over a century ago. It is therefore incumbent on the constitutionally enlightened majority to isolate the continued malignant owners of women from every aspect of American life — by land, by sea, by air and by economic means.

In Harper Lee’s American masterpiece, ‘Mockingbird’, we see the naked exposure of degenerate racism is all its splenetic hate. What is brilliantly subordinated to the main thesis is the plight of the ignorant young woman who is owned by her ignorant, backward, racist father. Alabama redux.

" Oh , Alabama
I'm from a new land , I come to you and
See all this ruin -
What are you doing ?
Alabama , you got the rest of the union to help you along .
What's going wrong ?
Oh , Alabama
Banjos playing through the broken glass .
Windows down in Alabama
See the old folks tied in white ropes .
Hear the banjos ,
don't it take you down home ? " ---- from Neil Young's song Alabama

Well said Ron . Truly sad indeed , as Alabama makes one gigantic leap backwards into the feudal age complete with human bondage . Neil Young's song , Alabama , is as timely today as it was way back when it was originally written .

The reference to England's impoverished underclasses is perhaps one of the best kept secrets in America , as the colonies were to a large extent originally populated by white slaves and indentured servants . In fact , as politically incorrect as it may seem , the white slave trade in the America's ( both North and South America ) was far more widespread and longer lasting than the black slave trade which later came from Africa . The Scots and Irish for example , were a major demographic in the white British slave trade to the American colonies ( as they were also in Australia's white slave trade ) . When these poor folks either escaped from the plantations or completed their terms of servitude , they headed westwards for the Appalachian Mountains where the American character of the Hillbilly was born . This is still evidenced today in country music by way of lyric fiddles and tunes which echo back to the highlands of Scotland and the lowlands of Ireland , along with array of Appalachian and Southern accents which still abound . This also is the origin of the hillbilly mountain clans system such as the infamous Hatfields and McCoys . Interestingly enough it was a Confederate Army comprised mostly of these offspring of white slaves who defended a brutal / feudal system of slavery in the antebellum South which oppressed an entire race of black peoples , and yet which had oppressed their own ancestors only a scant few decades prior . Perhaps Johnny Reb was afraid that if the blacks were awarded their freedom that he would again slip further down the social ladder and become a slave himself . Nonetheless , the slavery / ownership system is alive and well in America , and on more than one front at that .

Leave it to you to have some long winded babble because you are upset that a state is pro life. A state has the decency to protect the most vulnerable among us, the unborn babies.

ronzim

Tired: How could I possibly be upset with anyone who is pro-life? I most energetically oppose the taking of human life. I must, however, point out, again, that the banning of abortions has nothing whatsoever to do with any reverence for life. In fact, it makes a mockery of any such true respect. During the last 40 years, with Roe in effect, the abortion rate in America has plummeted by more than 50%, proving that Roe did not result in an increase in the abortion rate except for the short period from 1973 to 1980. What Roe directly caused was not a long-term increase in the rate of abortions; rather, it resulted in a steep decline in the injuries and early deaths of pregnant women throughout the nation. What is more, abortion, deplorably, is an historical phenomenon entirely resistant to any efforts to mandate it out of existence. Overturning Roe(now almost certain)and banning abortions in some states will have no effect on women who have the means to obtain a safe abortion. Only poor pregnant women will be affected and they will be injured and killed as a result. Why do you hate these poor women so much? Why do you demand their injuries and deaths in the unwashed hands of back-ally butchers?

Clearly, affecting the abortion rate is not involved in bans. What is involved is just how far we are willing to go in the matter of government control over our bodies. For my money, the choice is incontestable: We must never extend that kind of power to the government, absent any compelling public interest.

There is no such thing as a "safe abortion" for the baby. Wise up.

Russ_in_WML

ron's long liberal BS again.

1972 586,760 abortions reported to the CDC

Roe vs Wade, 1973, 615,831 abortions

by 1978, 1,157,776 abortions and this continued for another 20 years.

Rons assertion that abortion rates fell after Roe is false. as usual. The decline in abortion from 2000 - 2015 is not due to Roe, but due to ever increasing awareness that abortion is evil and morally wrong.

And ron's biggest reason for Roe v Wade? To provide clean sanitary rooms along with a doctor when they go to murder their unborn child.

Heartbeat bill states - Ohio, Georgia, Mississippi and Missouri. Way to go!

Abortion is the killing of a distinct and separate human life within the mother.

"Abortion is morally wrong, and it is an act of willful murder. Individual circumstances or “greater good” intentions cannot transform an act that is intrinsically evil into a right, nor sanction it as a matter of choice to eradicate unborn humans, who have an equal right to live."

Informed Consent

I just had a novel idea. Why not spend all this time and energy harping on the men who are having unprotected sex? Make it their responsibility. And when they mess up, we can pass all kind of laws to punish them. I have heard many stories in my lifetime of the husband or especially BOYFRIEND, pressuring the the woman to have an abortion so that the promising future of the male is not stifled by the unwanted pregnancy. Even the parents of the boyfriend paying for the abortion. I say, the more investment we put into education and encouragement of women in this world the more likely they will not feel pressured to agree to sex out of wedlock in order to "keep" their boyfriends happy. Then the demand for abortion will go down automatically without having to tear our society apart and distract our citizens with social issues. I am in favor of human life being protected at all levels. Too often, once the baby is born the factors that impede his or her health and longevity is mocked, such as environmental issues. So much of the health of fetus is dependent on the toxins that it experiences in utero. My generation will not live as long as my parents or be as healthy and my children and grandchildren will not live as long as I will or have as good as health as I have enjoyed. Any doubt to this, just take a stroll through Walmart and take a quick survey of the the prevalence of obese and morbidly obese people there, including young children glued to their tablets while still able to sit in the shopping basket. Looking at a picture of my father's regiment picture form WWII before they left for overseas battles, they were all slim and muscular. If you are going to care about the life of the fetus, please be consistent in the welfare of the child that follows.

Tired

Why do you punish anyone including an unborn baby? Keep your eye on the ball. The murder of a soul that has just as much right to live as you or I and make all the mistakes they want in life.

ArizAl

The republican "War on Women's Rights" continues. They now are passing laws that deny women their constitutional Rights to a safe, clean, sterile, abortion if they so chuse. Republicans are now wanting to force women to go to filthy, dirty back alley abortion butchers to get "murdered."

ronzim

Tired/Russ: If your interest were to be the reduction of abortions, then why would you so vehemently support the overturning of Roe, criminalizing abortions(illogically for doctors but not the women) and the closing of clinics? Would it not be better to continue to do what has actually worked in that regard? Can you not see that the massive decline in the abortion rate since 1980 has occurred with Roe in place and clinics open for business? Are you blind to what everyone else can see by simple inspection? Planned Parenthood clinics spend just 3% of their resources on abortions(and under very severe constraints at that). The other 97% is expended for women's non- abortive health care, one dimension of which is free or low-cost contraception and training which decreases unwanted pregnancies, a service which has been a major contributor to the immense reduction in the overall abortion rate since 1980. Take look at the program in Colorado where publicly-funded, long-term, reversible contraception has a ten year record of immense success in reducing abortions.

If the clinics are closed, then in those states which chose that option, the contraceptive services will be lost and the rate of unintended pregnancy must, ipso facto, increase, which will result in an increase in abortions. Moreover, the loss of other health services such as cancer screening will necessarily increase the incidence of other illnesses as well. You are the abortion fire brigade whose hoses are full of gasoline.

It is not possible for the repeal of Roe and the closing of the clinics to do anything other than increase the rate of abortions, at least, most assuredly , in those states which will choose such options. It is therefore clear that your preferences will increase abortions. That being the case, the reduction of abortions cannot logically be the motivation for your preferences in this regard. What, then, is left for your real motivation?

In view of the fact that your desires would not only increase abortions but also increase the serious injury and early death rate among poor women of colour, it is difficult to draw any other conclusion than reproductive racism as your subterranean motive. You could, of course, be merely unbalanced in so futilely pursuing a course of action which can have only the opposite of your intended result.

Bob Smith

Once again a bunch of men debating women's issues...let the women decide what to do with their bodies!

ronzim

Bob Smith: Exactly.

The Left loves its infanticide

juliussr

All this BS from both sides. Abortion would not be needed if Morals and Decency were put back in order. Stop using this service as an alternative to birth control. Stop allowing these services from having the tax payers pay for something that could be prevented by KEEPING YOUR KNEES together!

ArizAl

Hummm julius, the Hyde Amendment already prohibits tax dollars from paying for abortions. If morals and decency were put back in order, there would not be any abortions due to rape, incest, child prostitution and trafficking, or american males doing everything in their power to persuade the opposite sex from KEEPING THEIR KNEES TOGETHER. BTW, castration of all males would also stop all abortions. [scared][ohmy

ronzim

Let's see now Julius, just who would be the arbiter of those morals and decency you so long for. Ahhhhhh! Got it! That would be you, of course. FYI, no public funds are used for abortions. As for keeping one's knees together, what kind of morals and decency would place the entire burden of unwanted pregnancies on poor women of colour? Good grief, man, have you never heard of the Rasputin 4FF867 position?

ronzim

Correction. I said above that NO public funds are used for abortions. The Hyde amendment provides exception for rape, incest and to save the life of the mother.
