Sharon McReynolds letter to the editor regarding the lack of code enforcement really stuck a painful cord with us.
We bought a place here in Show Low five years ago and just two doors down from us is a house/dump that was open and cluttered with every possible type of trash. Sadly, nobody lived there and often we would see a car there for hours and then leave. Last year, a squatter parked a 5th wheel RV there and stayed. No water, no power and no sewer was connected, and one would wonder how they managed.
The sheriff was called dozens of times and once the legal owner was identified, the squatter was forced to leave. The city and county were called many times to eradicate this fire hazard, but nothing has happened. I also ask, why do we have codes and the city or county can't enforce them?
