UPDATE, 8:33 A.M.

Show Low Police have issued the following statement:

Show Low Police received a call of gunshots and people screaming on 6-4-19 at approximately 0346 hrs in the Fawnbrook area of Show Low.

Officers learned the suspect (John Thomas, 29 years old) had been involved in a domestic violence assault with his girlfriend.   This is when the first victim tried to intercede and was shot.  A second victim then also tried to intercede and was also shot.

The suspect fled the area and police are still trying to locate him.  He should be considered armed and dangerous.  Suspect was last seen wearing a black Rascal Flatts t-shirt, blue jeans and black combat style boots.  He is approximately 6 ft 2 in tall, 188 lbs with brown hair and blue eyes with a full beard.

Both victims were transported and ultimately flown to the Phoenix area were they are being treated for their injuries at this time.

This is an active scene and investigation.  Some businesses in the area may be on lock down and please limit your travel in the affected area.  If you happen to see the suspect, do not confront him.  Anyone with information or leads are being asked to call the Show Low Police.

SHOW LOW — Show Low Police are searching for a man who is a suspect in an early morning shooting. John Russell Thomas has not yet been apprehended and is considered dangerous.

According to police at the scene, two people were shot at about 4:30 a.m., possibly in the Fawnbrook subdivision, although that has not been established. The status of the victims has not been released.

Police have established a checkpoint at the entrance to the Fawnbrook subdivision, no one is being allowed into the neighborhood and all cars coming out are being searched.

The Independent will provide updates as information becomes available.

Few details are clear ar this times as this situation is still unfolding.
