PINETOP — Navajo County Sheriff’s Office deputies took what was described as a large amount of cash, a pound of meth and guns out of a home on Sandstone Drive on Dec. 1 at which time they also arrested two occupants of the home on numerous drug-related charges.

Weichen Yu, 37, of Lakeside, was arrested on charges of possession of dangerous drugs, possession of dangerous drugs for sale, possession of dangerous drug paraphernalia and prohibited possessor.

Yu has at least four prior felony drug convictions from 2019 on his record according to the Arizona Courts system information website at supreme court.az.gov.

Arrested at the same time was Salina Alsenay-Washburn, 41, of Pinetop, on charges of possession of dangerous drugs, possession of dangerous drugs for sale, possession of dangerous drug paraphernalia and prohibited possessor, the same as were filed against Yu.

A press release on the bust from NCSO Public Information Officer Tori Gorman stated that the estimated street value of the pound of meth confiscated is approximately $24,000.

Now it is up to the Navajo County Attorney’s Office which charges to proceed with and if a plea agreement will possibly be offered to either Yu or Alsenay-Washburn.
