Tonalea bareback rider Evan Betoney extended his lead in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association Turquoise Circuit standings by winning the event at the Flagstaff Pro Rodeo on June 27-29.

Taylor’s Shon Gibson, who won the bareback title at the Kingman Pro Rodeo earlier in June, tied for third in the event in Flagstaff to move up to eighth in the circuit standings.

Derrick Begay of Seba Dalkai and Ty Romo of Whiteriver teamed up to tie for first in the team roping event at Flagstaff. Begay and Romo, who won $1,092 each for the win, turned in a time of 4.7 seconds to tie the team of Tom Richards and Nick Sarchett.

Begay and Romo’s tie for first comes a week after the duo took second place in the first round of team roping at the PRCA’s Rodeo de Santa Fe in New Mexico.

Begay leads the Turquoise Circuit header standings while Romo moved up to 14th in the heeler standings this week. Lane Siggins of Coolidge leads Tanner Luttrell of San Tan Valley and Daylan Frost of Show Low atop the team roping heeler standings.

Myles John of Indian Wells sits fifth in the heeler standings after he and teammate Edward Hawley Jr. of Surprise took third at Flagstaff and third in the first round as well as the average at Santa Fe with a time of 10.1 seconds on two head.
