Snowflake’s Maren Berger pitched a 7-inning no-hit, no-run game in the first round of the Arizona 3A Softball Championships on Tuesday, May 3. The Lobos beat Valley Christian 1-0 in a game that featured excellent pitching from both teams.

Berger faced the minimum 21 batters in the game, and the only blemish on what was nearly a perfect game was a seventh inning walk. The girl who walked was erased on an unassisted double play by sister KK Berger as she fielded a soft line drive, and dove to first base before the runner could return. Maren Berger then induced a foul pop up to third baseman Kloah Ulberg to end the game. Berger, the pitcher, struck out 11 batters while allowing only the one baserunner.
