HEBER — Arizona Lutheran’s wrestling team posted four champions and eight top-four finishers to win the team title at the Mogollon Invitational on Jan. 27-28. The Coyotes outdistanced Winslow in the team scores by 51 points — 218 to 167. Benson was third, Thatcher was fourth, Joseph City was fifth and Round Valley was sixth.

Sully Udall won the championship at 145 pounds to pace the Elks in a close battle for fourth.

ALA was led by weight class champions Blake Wene, (106 pounds) Tanner Borneman (120), who was also selected as the tournamets Outstanding Lightweight Wrestler, Isai Barajas (126) and Weston Milnes-Bowers (152).

Winslow had two champs — Brayden Garcia (138) and Preston Greenwood (182). Benson (148 points) had two runners and three third-place finishers. Two champions — Peyton Phelps (170) and Sam Nicholas (285) led Thatcher (137). Joe City (133.5) had two runners up and one third-place finisher.

Round Valley (133) also had one runner up — Dylan Workman (120). Pima (124.5), led by 160-pound champ and the tournament’s Outstanding Middleweight, Ryne Lewis, and two runners up, was seventh. Monument Valley (119.5), led by Keola Yazzie, the 195-pound champ and Outstanding Upperweight, was eighth. Ganado (105), ninth, also had one champ — Cameron Peshtony at 113 pounds.

Other weight-class champs were Lewis Steele (132) of Winterhaven (Calif.) San Pasqual and Phoenix Christian’s Dorean Gardner (220).
