Rivalry renews tonight

St. Johns quarterback Ramon Sanchez (12) looks for running room amidst the Round Valley defense during the 2A football semifinals last November in Phoenix, the last time Round Valley and St. Johns met in football. Sanchez accounted for 151 yards of total offense in the 44-12 loss. The renewal of one of the state’s oldest and most intense rivalries will be played tonight in St. Johns with the visiting Elks coming in for a 7 p.m. kickoff. Round Valley is ranked No. 11 and St. Johns is No. 12 in the AIA’s 2A rankings, which debuted on Tuesday, Oct. 1.
