Representatives of the University of Arizona, UA alumni and supporters will converge on Pinetop today and Saturday for events to help fund scholarships for White Mountain students to attend the university.
The weekend’s events begin on Friday, June 21, with the Bear Down in the Pines Preparty, presented by White Mountain UA Alumni and supporters, at The Orchard at Charlie Clark’s Steakhouse, 1701 E. White Mountain Blvd. (state Route 260) in Pinetop.
The preparty, a night of fun with fellow Wildcats, begins at 4:30 p.m. Admission is free.
A short program emceed by UA Alumni Association President Melinda Burke begins at approximately 5:15 p.m. Special guests include Wildcats’ Head Football Coach Kevin Sumlin and UA Director fo Athletics Dave Heeke.
On Saturday, June 22, golfing foursomes will tee off at 12:30 p.m. for a round of golf at Pinetop Country Club. A buffet dinner and awards ceremony follows at 5 p.m.
The events are part of an effort to establish scholarships for deserving White Mountain students headed to the UA and to help them realize their dream of a college education. White Mountain UA Alumni will use the proceeds for immediate scholarship awards, a scholarship endowment and scholarship fundraising.
