WHITE MOUNTAINS — Ski resorts are not just about snow skiing anymore. Sunrise Ski Resort has added lots of summer activities for the whole family and one of the most popular is the 3D Archery Shootout held each July.

With 10 courses and two extreme courses, the week-long shootout has lots of fun for the whole family. There is a family course, one kid’s course, the long-shot course and a warm-up area. Several of the courses require riding the ski lift to get to the start of the trails. Realistic animal targets are strategically placed around and in the towering pines and firs.

During the Fourth of July holiday, the open area in front of the chairlifts was set up with various vendors and food carts, as well as fun activities for the kids. Plenty of people were enjoying the ziplines, climbing wall, tubing slide, bouncy houses, trampolines, airbag jump, biking, and other amenities.

Besides raffles, there was a chance to win a trophy elk hunt on the White Mountain reservation valued at $22,000.
